Inground Pool

The most common pool built in New Orleans backyards.

An inground pool is the most common backyard pool we build in the New Orleans area, and it’s the one that turns a yard into the place everyone wants to be from May through October. We design and build inground pools across the metro, the Northshore, and the River Parishes.

Three ways to build one

We install all three inground construction types, and we’ll tell you honestly which one fits your yard and budget.

Gunite pools are built from sprayed concrete over a steel frame. They can be shaped into nearly any design, from freeform lagoons to sharp architectural lines, and they’re the most durable option we build. They take the longest, and they reward the wait.

Fiberglass pools use a pre-formed shell set into the excavation. Installation is faster than gunite, the smooth surface is easy on feet and swimsuits, and upkeep tends to be simpler. Shape options are set by the manufacturer’s molds.

Vinyl liner pools use a custom-cut liner over a frame, generally the lowest upfront cost of the three. Liners are replaceable, which makes the long-term refresh straightforward.

Built for the ground it sits in

Inground construction in South Louisiana isn’t like inground construction anywhere else. The water table sits high, the soil holds water, and a June afternoon can drop an inch of rain on an open excavation. We plan the dig, the dewatering, and the shell around those conditions, and we handle the parish permits before any of it starts.

Start with the design, not the dig

Every inground build starts with a custom design plan you approve before construction. You’ll know the shape, the finishes, the equipment, and the schedule in writing. From there, one in-house crew takes it from excavation to the final walkthrough.

Common Questions

Inground Pool FAQs

How much will my inground pool project cost?

It depends on the size, the materials, and what your site needs for excavation and drainage. You get a written estimate after a free on-site consultation, before any work starts.

How long will the project take?

It depends on the design, permitting, and the weather. You get a written schedule at design approval, and the same crew sees it through to the final walkthrough.

Can you build on South Louisiana's soil and water table?

Yes, they're the first things we design around. Excavation, dewatering, and the structure itself are all engineered for our soil and high water table.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Big Easy Pool Designs is licensed and insured, and we handle the parish permits for every project we build.
